The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world’s oceans, waves, and beaches through a powerful activist network. Founded in 1984 by a handful of visionary surfers in Malibu, California, the Surfrider Foundation now maintains over 50,000 members and 90 chapters worldwide.
Welcome to the Surfrider Foundation Virginia Beach chapter website! Each chapter is individually managed and run by volunteers from the local community. The Virginia Beach chapter was revamped in 2012 and we have been gathering momentum and building our chapter back up ever since. We’ve produced a positive impact on our community and beaches through a dedicated group of like-minded individuals by holding regular monthly beach cleanups, educational events, and fun social events! We have also recently initiated numerous programs and campaigns, including banning cigarettes on the beach, improving water quality testing and monitoring, and preserving beach and coastal access. If you are interested in participating and/or volunteering with our chapter, please visit our Events page or email our Volunteer Coordinator, Gwen, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
